A Cup of Tea for the Prevention of Elder Abuse is an Ontario-wide fundraising campaign in support of ONPEA's Seniors Safety Line.

Visit the A Cup of Tea website at www.acupoftea.ca.
As Ontario’s population of residents 65 years and up continues to rise so do the realities of elder abuse. Elder abuse takes many different forms; it’s as varied and individual as its victims themselves. What doesn’t change, regardless of the type, is that elder abuse happens far too often and it must be stopped NOW.
The Senior Safety Line was created to be there for vulnerable seniors when no one else can. It operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is available in 150 languages. It is the only hotline of its kind in Ontario. Currently the line is running at 100% capacity, this is due to the fact that there is only one dedicated line available. The Senior Safety Line's 3 year funding which was provided by the Ontario Trillium Foundation has ended, and the need to raise funds to keep it operating has become extremely urgent. The SSL belongs to everyone and it needs support now to not only fund a second line but to keep the current one operating.
ONPEA is asking families and communities around Ontario to join the conversation over a pot of tea to better protect their loved ones. Please help by hosting your own tea.
