Waterloo Region Committee on Elder Abuse (WRCEA) Goals: "WRCEA is comprised of volunteers who work toward the prevention of elder abuse through education, research, and raising awareness. Members are available for consultaion and presentation to community groups" Activities: education, research & community awareness; public forums; provide Comfort Packs to victims of abuse who have been removed from their home to a safe place. These packs include housecoats & slipper, a comforter or throw+ toiletries; developing workshops for LTC/RH/Day Program & community service providers; the Harmony Interage Theatre Troupe, a group of volunteers, use their creative acting skills to act out scenarios or mimes, which are used to provide education in the community.
