Description: Tasked with the guiding COA efforts relating to elder abuse working toward coordination, awareness, advocacy, prevention and education.

Network Events/Projects:

  • Community Response Manual: review best practices, review other products for content consideration
  • Elder Abuse Resource Directory: launched March 9, 2005
  • Coordination Office: jointly managed by Nepean, Rideau & Osgoode Community Resource Centre (serving Bank Street and West of Ottawa) and the Eastern Ottawa Resource Centre (serving Bank Street and East of Ottawa) with the purpose to provide an information line available during work hours in order to facilitate the coordination of service providers and the Consultation team. Development of protocol, terms of reference, referral process and staff training program.
  • Consultation Team: reports to the Steering Committee. Will respond to complex elder abuse cases by working with the Coordination Service in an advisory capacity in order to provide options to service providers
  • Coordination of services with the Ottawa Police Services: coordinated with the Consultation team and the Coordination Office with the police officer in charge of elder abuse issues and investigations
